This handcrafted [Kondo] Setto Hammer (Striking Hammer) head is a highly versatile implement optimized for all-around daily masonry work. Belonging to the balanced mid-weight tier to deliver ample driving force while significantly minimizing arm fatigue over long field shifts, this 900g head is perfect for running hex or square chipping chisels in Dry Stone Walling (DSW), detailed stone styling in Japanese Gardens, and general architectural masonry modifications.

The monolithic head is forged from solid high-grade tool steel, featuring professional double-faced hardening on both striking surfaces to prevent flattening under metal-on-metal impact. This product is supplied as a Head Only, allowing you to custom-whittle and fit a handle of your choice to the traditional rectangular eye. Highly suitable woods include Kamatsuka (Ushigoroshi), Shirakashi, Gumi, Yamazakura, or premium Hickory. ⚠️ WARNING & INSTALLATION NOTE: For independent handle installation, you must carefully whittle and sand the wood tip for a flawless press-fit inside the tapered rectangular eye. Always secure the head firmly with a proper wedge; striking heavy steel chisels with an improperly secured hammer head can cause the head to detach, posing severe physical danger.
