Item Description

Masterfully forged by [Kondo], this wide stone chisel—referred to as a Habahiro Tagane—is built for heavy-duty surface clearing, uniform material removal, and broad stone splitting. It is structurally distinguished by a 22mm wide flat finished steel handle that ensures stable grip control and high resistance against intense hammer blows, making it an indispensable asset for flattening bed joints or dressing structural corner stones (quoins) in Dry Stone Walling (DSW), sizing large stone components in Japanese Gardens, and clearing broad planes in architectural restoration.

Equipped with a wide 4x45mm tungsten carbide blade secured via precision brass brazing, this tool bridges the gap between standard flat chisels and heavy stone splitters by absorbing harsh, high-frequency hand shocks. ⚠️ WARNING: Proper traditional technique is mandatory to safeguard the joint. To prevent the thick brass wrap from fracturing under intense loading, you must maintain a clean lifting rhythm between strikes and avoid any continuous side dragging or lateral impacts.
