Item Description
This handcrafted [Kondo] square-point chisel delivers professional accuracy when cleaning up uneven stone surfaces. Equipped with a balanced 28mm body and a 9x8mm square carbide tip, it offers excellent driving energy for shearing off stubborn irregularities without causing excessive muscle strain, making it highly reliable for matching joints in Dry Stone Walling (DSW), refining stone settings in Japanese Gardens, and establishing crisp planes in architectural restoration.
The surrounding brass joint functions as a critical structural cushion, absorbing sharp shocks and mitigating hand fatigue. ⚠️ WARNING: This series is designed for experienced users who maintain proper technique. To prevent the thick brass section from fracturing before the carbide tip, you must lift the tool slightly with each hammer strike; avoid continuous dragging or exposure to lateral forces.
Please adjust an angle in Aoto of the GC whetstone 120H according to the stone to be used before beginning to use. When using it for soft stones, such as the Shirakawa stone and an Oya stone , it is about 60 degrees. In the case of granite, it is common to adjust to an obtuse angle rather than 55 degrees.
If you are a professional, the optimal SETTO for Angle picking Chisel of this size (Diameter=28mm Carbide bits=9mm*8mm) is a 1.0 to 1.3 kg thing. However, when there is little experience, please use SETTO lighter than this.
