Handcrafted Japanese Bypass Pruning Shears & Secateurs
Explore our collection of traditional Japanese pruning shears and secateurs, specializing in bypass models hand-forged from high-carbon steel by Tobisho in Yamagata.
The Standard of Heavy Pruning
Engineered for cutting through thicker, harder branches, these bypass pruning shears are built for straightforward, functional performance in hand-forged carbon steel. The B-type is built around a dead-straight center axis, while the A-type carries on a lineage that traces back to 1930, when Shojiro Tobitsuka founded the workshop that would become Tobisho, making pruning and garden shears from the start. Each model is designed for a clean bypass cut that minimizes tissue damage and supports faster healing.
Suited to professional orchard work, vineyard management, general landscaping, and home gardening alike. If you're looking beyond standard bypass cutting, our Bud & Harvesting Pruners (Mekiri-basami) collection covers more specialized single-bevel and double-bevel work.
