About Replacement Coil Spring (Mushi-bane) for Hiryu & Asuka

This is a coil spring, wound in a helical shape rather than bent into a single loop like our standard leaf springs. Tobisho calls it mushi-bane, and it's the spring used specifically in the Hiryu, Hiryu Alpha, and Asuka, models built around a different internal mechanism than our other bypass pruning shears.

Fitting a coil spring correctly takes a bit more care than the push-in leaf springs used elsewhere in our lineup. If you're not confident handling the internal mechanism, we'd suggest having a professional make the swap.
